The Poznań Days of Longus (March19th–20th 2026)

The Institute of Classical Philology, The Raczynski Library, and the Poznan Branch of the Polish Philological Association warmly invite you to the Days of Longus, which will take place on March 19–20 as part of the Festival Européen Latin Grec.

The Poznań Days of Longus will open with the international conference “Longus’ Daphnis and Chloe, and Its Later Reception” on March 19 at the AMU Institute of Classical Philology (Collegium Maius, 10 Fredry St., room 183).

On March 19 at 7:00 p.m., a concert in the Theatre Hall of Collegium Maius (10 Fredry St.) will feature selected excerpts from Joseph Bodin de Boismortier’s opera Daphnis et Chloé (1747). Performers:

Marta Krysiak – soprano
Mateusz Stróżyński – baritone

Très Animé ensemble under the direction of Dagmara Tyrcha.

A public reading of Daphnis and Chloe will begin at 5:00 p.m. on March 20 at the Raczynski Library (room 5). Selected excerpts of Longus’ novel will be presented by lecturers and students from the Institute of Classical Philology. The introductory remarks will be delivered by Dr. Cezary Dobak. Musical setting: Ilya Sinitsa.
